Prioritizing consistent and sufficient sleep duration allows the body to repair, regenerate, and maintain metabolic equilibrium. When we are well-rested, we are better equipped to make healthier food choices and engage in regular physical activity. We can improve sleep by establishing a consistent sleep schedule, prioritizing a relaxing pre-sleep routine creating a comfortable sleep environment, including a cool dark room, meditation, and rhythmic music. Symptoms of metabolic dysfunction can include unexplained weight gain, particularly around the abdominal area, persistent fatigue, and fluctuations in blood sugar levels leading to increased thirst and frequent urination. It’s best not to self-diagnose a potential health issue – instead see your physician and ask about testing to measure various indicators such as fasting blood sugar levels, insulin resistance, and lipid profiles.
